SHANNON MUIR APPEARANCE AT JEMCON 2008

Auto Date Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Check out this new local opportunity to hear me speak! I’ll be giving back time and talent to the fans of one of the shows that inspired me to become part of the business with a panel on “Animation from Concept to Production” at JemCon 2008! JemCon 2008, celebrating the ’80s animated series JEM, runs from September 27th-28th at the AirTel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys, CA. My panel is scheduled for Sunday at 11AM, but don’t miss all the great industry guests on both days of this convention! On-site registration will be available!

Anime Los Angeles Appearance Info!

Auto Date Friday, January 4th, 2008

I have been so busy (in a good way) I hadn’t been able to get the info out about my Anime Los Angeles appearance until now.

I’ll be at the convention one day only - tomorrow, Saturday the 5th.  The panel I’ll be on will focus on ADR writing and production, and appearing with me will be fellow animation writer Craig Miller, and that runs from 2-3 pm.  Planning to just spend some time at the convention besides that but not sure how much yet.

Hope to see some of you there!

After Pacific Media Expo

Auto Date Saturday, November 10th, 2007

I had a nice, intimate turnout for the discussion I did on ADR vs. Original Animation.  Broke down the differences in the production pipeline for each, how changes in both broadcast standards and practices and available venues have influenced adapting ADR animation (comparing the 80s where shows like VOLTRON and ROBOTECH were highly rewritten, to where that happens a lot less frequently today and it is often more an adaptation of the story closer to the original).  Also took a fair amount of questions.

An interesting experience doing this solo the first time as well.  All my other experiences have been in panels with other people, both at smaller cons and larger ones.  I thank people for bearing with me and I feel I learned a lot doing the discussion in this format.  I just hope others learned from me as well.

Attended a Canadian Women in Animation lecture…

Auto Date Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences held tonight a lecture and showing of four shorts (three nominated and one winner) by Canadian female animators.  It was an incredible diverse evening, from work directly to cel to paint pushed under the camera to oils/rotoscoping to traditional 2D.  The four were THE TENDER TALE OF CINDERELLA PENGUIN (directed by Janet Perlman), THE STREET (Caroline Leaf), WHEN THE DAY BREAKS (Amanda Tilby and Amanda Forbis) and THE DANISH POET (Torrill Kove).  I think my favorite of the four was THE DANISH POET.
